SUBSTANCE: system for medical device detection includes a guidance system configured to deliver a surgical device into a subject, a surgical device deployment detector configured to cooperate with guidance system and to detect a deployment of surgical device in subject and a coordination module for receiving an input signal for surgical device delivery for coordination of a plurality of input signals to determine and record one or more of a location and time of each deployment. Biopsy system for medical device detection, comprises a guidance system to deliver a biopsy needle into a subject; a deployment configured to detect deployment of biopsy needle and a scanning probe employed to image biopsy needle; an imaging device, and a coordination module configured to receive input, relating to surgical device delivery, from one or more of guidance system, deployment detector and scanning probe to coordinate a plurality of inputs to record each deployment to create a record of location and time of a biopsy associated with each deployment. Method for medical device detection comprises steps of delivering a surgical device into a subject using a guidance system; integrating surgical device guidance with automatic deployment detection and recording to detect an occurrence of a deployment of surgical device with one or more of a real-time image, an acoustic indicator, a vibration detector and a spatial tracking device; and determining and recording one or more of a location and time of each deployment by coordinating a plurality of inputs, relating to surgical device delivery, including surgical device guidance and automatic deployment detection.
EFFECT: using inventions provides higher accuracy of determining points of sampling of biopsy samples.
