METHOD OF ROBOT-ASSISTED PROSTATE BIOPSY WITH PRELIMINARY ULTRASOUND SCANNING Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC A61B10/02 A61B34/37 A61B8/08

Abstract RU 2827129 C1

FIELD: medicine; urology.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for robot-assisted prostate biopsy with preliminary ultrasound scanning in patients with suspected prostate cancer. An ultrasound image is obtained using a transrectal ultrasound sensor fixed on the mounting seat of the robotic arm. Ultrasound image data are processed using the robotic manipulator software, by rotating the transrectal ultrasound sensor within 180 degrees with transmission of the results of layer-by-layer scanning to the microprocessor of the robotic arm in real time. Robotic manipulator software selects pathologically changed areas with volume of more than or equal to 0.5 cm3 as suspicious, and in semi-automatic mode brings the biopsy needle, and performs sampling of prostate tissue biopsy material. Then, prostate tissue biopsy materials are removed from the robotic manipulator and sent for histopathological examination.

EFFECT: method enables increasing the reliability of detecting prostate cancer by providing the possibility of accurate guidance of the biopsy needle by a robotic manipulator under the control of a transrectal ultrasonic sensor and data obtained during preliminary ultrasonic scanning.
