FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to structural adhesive, which is suitable for high-strength gluing of metals and aerospace structural materials. Structural adhesive which is curable at or below 93 °C (200 °F), is obtained by mixing resin-containing component (A) with catalytic component (B). Resin-containing component (A) includes at least two different polyfunctional epoxy resins with different epoxy functionality, selected from difunctional, trifunctional and tetrafunctional epoxy resins, smaller rubber core-shell particles with particle size of less than 100 nm, and larger rubber core-shell particles with particle size of more than 100 nm, with weight ratio of more fine rubber core-shell particles to larger rubber core-shell particles in range from 3:1 to 5:1, at least one of elastomeric polymer with functional group able to react with polyfunctional epoxy resins, and sulfonic polyester polymer, having average molecular weight within 8,000-14,000, particles of inorganic filler in effective amount for resin-containing component rheology regulation. Catalyst component (B) includes at least one amine hardener and inorganic filler particles present in effective amount, to adjust catalytic component rheology, wherein weight ratio of component (A) to component (B) ranges from 3:2 to 10:2. When cured in temperature range of 65-93 °C (150-200 °F) structural adhesive has glass transition temperature (Tc) of more than 95 °C (203 °F), shear strength of adhesive overlap joint in range of 33-37 MPa at 20-25 °C and 24-27 MPa at 82 °C, 15-18 MPa at 121 °C according to ASTM D3165, increased strength in range of 250-350 N·m/m at 20-25 °C according to ASTM D3167. Disclosed is version of single-component adhesive and two laminar structures.
EFFECT: paste-like adhesive described here has film properties, which is especially important in quick assembly, when gluing aerospace structures; glue is characterized by high properties.
