FIELD: agriculture.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to portable devices for quick assessment of optical characteristics of plants on determined wave numbers, natural change of amplitude of which is sign of effect of hydrogen, and can be used for detection of hydrogen emanation zones owing to use of plants as bio-indicators. Principle of operation of device consists in irradiating plant sample with laser beam, grown on investigated territory, wherein part of initial radiation is converted by plant substance, which leads to displacement of spectral composition of radiation depending on chemical composition of analysed object. Converted laser radiation passes through beam splitter, light filter, prism and slit diaphragm, as result, informative spectra spatially separated and fed into corresponding photodetectors of radiation. Measurement of radiation intensity on group of preset wave numbers (1380 cm-1, 1547 cm-1, 1522 cm-1 and 1600 cm-1) and calculation based on their ratios of coefficient, responsible for integrated effect of hydrogen on optical characteristics of plants, gives estimate time average hydrogen concentration in air on investigated territory.

EFFECT: invention provides reducing manufacturing cost and simplification of device usage.
