FIELD: data processing.
SUBSTANCE: method of automatic detection of marine animals, executed by detection device: stage of obtaining measurements (1) of acoustic signals collected by means of at least one acoustic sensor in underwater environment; at least, one of first branch (3) for detection of frequency-modulated sounds and second branch (4) for detecting pulsed sounds; wherein every branch includes step for detection of sounds by means of: implementation of several parallel detection channels, each having different fixed value for at least one degree of freedom; selecting detection channel, with maximum signal/noise ratio; and comparing signal/noise ratios of selected detection channel with set threshold; step (32, 42, 5) making decision on alarm signal indicating presence of at least one of marine animals, depending on output signal of first branch and/or output signal of second branch.
EFFECT: disclosed is method of automatic detection of marine animals.
