FIELD: organic chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: modified diene-containing (co)polymers, in particular a modified butadiene-styrene copolymer. Invention can be used as a flame retardant for polymer compositions based on expandable polystyrene. Modified diene-containing (co)polymer containing in its structure halogen atoms, at least one epoxy group, at least one hydroxyl group and at least an amino group, having a temperature of 5% weight loss of at least 180°C, a weight average molecular weight of at least 1500 g/mol and a halogen content of at least 35% by weight, based on the weight of the total (co)polymer, is described. The invention also relates to a method for producing a modified diene-containing (co)polymer and use as a flame retardant for polystyrene, including expandable polystyrene.
EFFECT: increased heat resistance of modified diene-containing (co)polymers, which consists in increasing the temperature of 5% weight loss, which is at least 180°C, while the (co)polymers obtained according to the present invention are characterized by a molecular weight of at least 1500 g/mol and a halogen content of at least 35% by weight, based on the weight of the entire (co)polymer, and also do not affect the polymerization process and formation of polystyrene granules.
