SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a new polymorph of Rifaximin, designated κ, in a new crystalline form and to a process for the preparation thereof. Under certain aspects, the invention also relates to pharmaceutical compositions comprising an effective amount of the polymorphic form κ of Rifaximin and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
EFFECT: treatment of gastrointestinal conditions.
