FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing sulphur-containing compounds, more specifically to 2-(methylthio)- and 2,5-di-(methylthio)thiophenes, which are additives for lubricating oils and polymers and used in synthesis of herbicides and electroconductive materials. Described is a method of producing 2- and 2,5-di-(methylthio)thiophenes by reacting dimethyldisulphide with thiophene in presence of a high-silica zeolite HZSM-5 catalyst, in gas phase at atmospheric pressure, temperature of 150-250 °C, contact time of 2.2-8.0.

EFFECT: said conditions enable to conduct process with high output and selectivity.
