COMPOSITION FOR MAKING CUTTING TOOLS FOR STEEL AND CAST IRON Russian patent published in 2016 - IPC B24D3/10

Abstract RU 2595000 C1

FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy and can be used for making cutting tools. Composition comprises a superhard material containing a mixture of cubic boron nitride and diamond powders in the following components proportions, wt%: cubic boron nitride 20-60, diamond 40-80, and a binder containing a mixture of powders of copper, cobalt, iron, nickel and hexagonal boron nitride, at the following components ratio, wt%: copper 27.5-49.5, cobalt 13.75-24.75, iron 13.75-24.75, nickel 1-45, hexagonal boron nitride 0.05-1. Particle size of hexagonal boron nitride makes less than 500 nm.

EFFECT: technical result is upgraded hardness of up to 100HRB, ultimate strength at the three-point bending of σbend up to 1,200 MPa, impact viscosity KCU up to 6 J/mm2, as well as efficiency of a cutting tool on the basis of a superhard material and its specific resource up to 3,000 cm2/mm at cutting steel and cast iron.
