SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to method and device for reducing content of radioactive material in an object containing radioactive material to an environmentally safe level. Method of reducing content of radioactive material in an object containing radioactive material to environmentally safe level comprises an object, which is at least an object selected from a group consisting of body, sewage sludge, soil and ash from refuse incineration plants. Object is subjected to heating/pressurising/pressure release, selected from a group consisting of a step of heating object to a state where temperature is less than or equal to critical temperature of water, water-soluble liquid, or a mixture of water and water-soluble liquid, and pressure is greater than or equal to saturated vapour pressure of aqueous liquid. There is also a processing device for reducing content of radioactive material in an object.

EFFECT: group of inventions enables to remove radioactive material from an object, after treatment object may be returned to living environment.
