SUBSTANCE: invention relates to video encoding/decoding. Disclosed is method of encoding video data. Method includes a step of obtaining a value indicating a position of a last significant coefficient within a video block of size T. Further, method includes determining a first binary string for value indicating position of last significant coefficient based on a truncated unary coding scheme defined by a maximum bit length defined by 2log2(T)-1. Method also includes determining a second binary string for value indicating position of last significant coefficient.
EFFECT: high efficiency of encoding/decoding video data owing to use of last significant coefficient based on a truncated unary coding scheme defined by maximum length in bits.
