FIELD: nanotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the production of carriers of electrocatalytic metal nanoparticles for further application in fuel cells and electrochemical apparatus. Method for modifying carbon nanomaterials in nitrogen-containing plasma includes the stage of processing powdered carbon nanomaterial, implemented in plasma in a vacuum chamber of a magnetron-ion sputtering unit using a current source. A nitrogen-argon mixture is applied as plasma-forming gases. Plasma treatment is implemented under a 1 to 6 Pa pressure of the mixture using a composite graphite target containing sulphur as a second modifying component. The ratio of sulphur/graphite areas is in the range from 3:1 to 1:3. The substrate with the carbon nanomaterial is grounded. The chamber is pre-evacuated to 10-2 Pa, and the substrate with the treated material is heated to 120°C in order to clear the pores of the sample from water vapour.
EFFECT: possibility of increasing the surface activity of the electrocatalyst carrier for low-temperature hydrogen-air (oxygen) fuel cells, improving the characteristics thereof.
