FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to control of supply of alumina into electrolysis units for production of aluminium to maintain concentration of alumina in electrolyte, equal or close to saturation concentration. Method comprises measuring reduced voltage (U) or pseudoresistance (R), recording measurement results at fixed time intervals and forming power supply, which include supply of alumina in insufficient or excessive amount as compared with theoretical alumina consumption rate during electrolysis, wherein duration of periods of insufficient supply is selected depending on concentration of alumina in electrolyte, and duration of periods of excess power is determined by change of one or more of values recorded on electrolysis cell: reduced voltage, pseudoresistance, rate of change of reduced voltage (dU/dt) and pseudoresistance (dR/dt), control of interpolar distance to maintain energy balance of electrolysis cell can be performed in any of supply phases.
EFFECT: higher technical and economic parameters of process of producing aluminium due to absence of anode effects in electrolytic cells with carbon anodes and using new structural and electrode materials with high rate of wear in electrolyte with low concentration of alumina.
