FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medicine and can be used for pacing respiratory activity of a subject. Group of inventions provides a method and a system for pacing respiratory activity of a subject. Breath pacing system (10) comprises input unit (14) for generating an input signal related to a respiration characteristic of a subject, signal analysing unit (16) provided to recognize a signal pattern within input signal, and output unit (12) for outputting output signals corresponding to a desired breathing sequence. Output unit (12) is provided to be activated, upon a starting signal, to output a sequence of output signals comprising a signal pattern related to a previously recognised signal pattern.
EFFECT: group of inventions makes it possible to automatically and efficiently match output signal with breathing characteristics of a subject due to selection a sequence of output signals comprising a phase for deceleration and attenuation at start signal.
