FIELD: measuring equipment; meeting the vital human needs.
SUBSTANCE: systems and methods for determining one or more temperatures inside a phototherapy blanket use or include one or more temperature sensors and a set of light sources to determine the temperature of a subject undergoing phototherapy in the phototherapy blanket, and estimate the subject's internal temperature based on at least that temperature. Said phototherapy blanket may include a thicker region that has higher thermal insulation than one or more other regions of the phototherapy blanket.
EFFECT: by measuring the temperature in or near the region of greater thickness, the uncertainty in the ratio between the temperature and the internal temperature of the subject can be reduced due to a more accurate determination of the temperature within the phototherapy blanket.
