Unit for counting inserted carriers counts the number of inserted carriers, that is the total number of bank notes, derived from deposit and issuing bank notes section by removing all bank notes from the deposit and issuing bank notes section and further transfer the banknotes, which were transported through the verification section in the temporary storage section in the deposit and issuing bank notes section. Unit for counting normal carriers again deposits and transports banknotes from the deposit and issuing bank notes section in the verification section in an amount corresponding to the number of inserted bank notes, transports bank notes deviating from the norm, which are defined as deviating from the norm by the verification section, in the deposit and issuing bank notes section with subsequent bank notes, and transports normal bank notes, which are defined as normal banknotes by the verification section, in the temporary storage section and holds there normal bank notes, as well as counts the number of normal bank notes, that is the total amount of normal bank notes. Unit for calculating the number of carriers deviating from the norm subtracts the amount of normal bank notes from the number of inserted bank notes in order to calculate the number of bank notes deviating from the norm, which is the number of banknotes deviating from the norm.
