SUBSTANCE: invention relates to techniques for 3D data visualization. Proposed is a system for generation of two-dimensional projection of three-dimensional image data set. System has a features detector for detecting features in the set of three-dimensional image data. System also comprises a distance calculation subsystem for calculating a distance from a feature to an image element of the three-dimensional image data set. Besides, the system includes a weighing subsystem for weighing the image element value basing on the distance to get the weighted value of the image element.

EFFECT: technical result is improved volume visualization due to the fact that a pixel value of the projection is based on the weighted value of the image element.
