FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to synthetic polymer materials, particularly, thermosetting film for labels with low specific weight. Includes a layer of styrofoam containing polystyrene as main component and a pair of non-foam layers attached by melting to both sides of the layer, where they are connected in a layered structure by joint extrusion to produce a film having specific weight lower than 1.0. Film is produced by method including the following operations: joint extrusion of separate materials to form foamy intermediate layer containing polystyrene as main component and a pair of non-foam layers attached by melting to both sides of a foamed intermediate layer, so that an unstretched film; and stretching of unstretched film in transverse direction. Stretching unstretched film in transverse direction is carried out with tension factor of 3.5 to 5.5.

EFFECT: invention provides creation of film with low specific weight, which meet all requirements to shrinkable film, wherein it doesn't sink in water, providing efficiency of recycling.
