FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a coating system and can be used for painting various objects, for example, vehicle bodies. Coating system comprises a coating booth, a conveyor system, at least one application unit for the coating medium and at least one handling device, mainly a robot. Conveyor system guides the articles to be coated through the coating booth. Handling device carries and guides the application unit. There is also at least one cleaning apparatus which in turn comprises at least one nozzle. Nozzle delivers CO2 in the form of CO2 snow or granules for cleaning purposes. CO2 can be applied to all surfaces of the application unit to be cleaned and, if necessary, adjacent regions of the handling device. Additionally, the unit comprises a tank to store CO2 in liquid or solid form, central supply unit and collecting line. Central supply unit comprises conveying means that are able to remove CO2 from tank and supply it at a suitable pressure. Collecting line is connected to the central supply unit and at least one cleaning apparatus. Under program control a relative movement between the nozzle and the application unit is induced. All surfaces of the application unit to be cleaned can be reached by CO2 delivered through the nozzle.
EFFECT: to reduce the cost of materials and manual labour, as well as to make a complete automation of the cleaning of the outer surfaces of the application unit, and optionally adjacent regions of the handling device possible.
