FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention is intended to determine with a high degree of accuracy a level of liquid media with different refractive indices. A sensor for controlling a liquid level contains sequentially installed and optically matched radiation source, transmitting fiber light guide, sensing element, receiving fiber light guide and photodetector connected to signal processing unit, while the sensing element is made in the form of two segments of fiber light guides installed in a frame with a gap, optically matched, respectively, with transmitting and receiving fiber light guides, while the free end of the transmitting light guide of the sensing element is made with a bevel relatively to its optical axis, and the sensor additionally contains off-axis receiving light guides located in the same plane with the transmitting one, the distance to which from the axial receiving light guide is a function of a working wavelength of the radiation, an angle of the bevel of the end of the transmitting light guide, the gap between receiving and transmitting light guides and aperture angles of light guides for media being measured, wherein the plane of the bevel of the end of the transmitting light guide is perpendicular to the plane of optical axes of receiving light guides.

EFFECT: creation of a fireproof and noise-proof sensor for measuring the liquid level and type.
