FIELD: manufacturing technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to composite structures, particularly to techniques for reinforcing composite stiffness elements, and can be used in aircraft engineering and space engineering. Method of making a composite stiffness element includes formation of a pairs of components from prepreg, each of which comprises a part of the wall and the shelf of the composite stiffness element, as well as a rounded zone of transition from the wall to the shelf, connection of these components to each other and forming the shelf base of the composite stiffness element with filling of cavities in the zone of rounding the components with an insert from a composite material, herewith the insert is made by twisting a band of prepreg into a roll, the width of which is determined by the ratio of the cavity area to the thickness of the prepreg monolayer.
EFFECT: invention enables to make stiffness elements of various geometry without using any additional equipment and special devices, to reduce the production cycle of making the stiffness element, to reduce labour intensity and increase the effectiveness of the process.
