FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of composite materials reinforced with fibers, and concerns hybrid veil as an intermediate layer in composite materials. Flexible self-supporting hybrid veil is permeable for liquid and gas. Hybrid veil includes: interwoven randomly arranged fibers in form of nonwoven structure; particles dispersed throughout the non-woven structure, wherein most particles pass through the thickness of the non-woven structure; and a polymer or resin binder available throughout the veil. Such hybrid veil can be included in composite laminates, prepregs, webs and fibrous preforms.
EFFECT: invention provides creation of multifunctional interlayer material, which simultaneously increases viscosity of destruction and ultimate compression strength of cured laminates while maintaining or improving volume conductivity, and can also overcome current limitations on materials associated with problems of thinning in parts from composites with curved profiles.
