FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: present invention can be used for processing and hot working alloy ingots. Metallic material layer is deposited onto at least one region of the side of a cylindrical alloy ingot and at least one end of a cylindrical alloy ingot; wherein the metallic material layer is deposited as a weld deposit that is 0.64-1.27 cm thick. Welded metallic material is more ductile than the ingot alloy.
EFFECT: invention ensures reduced occurrence of cracks on the surface of an alloy ingot during hot working.
