FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: method of treating a workpiece made of an alloy susceptible to crack formation, prior to its hot treatment includes spraying coating of metal material onto at least a portion of the circumferential surface of the treated workpiece to form a surface coating metallurgically connected to the treated part. The workpiece is made of an alloy containing a material selected from the group consisting of a nickel-base alloy, a super-strong nickel-based alloy, an iron-based alloy, a nickel-iron-based alloy, and an iron-based alloy, titanium-based alloy, titanium and nickel-based alloy and cobalt-based alloy. The surface coating is more plastic than the treated workpiece and the surface coating reduces the thermal loss of the treated workpiece.

EFFECT: reduction of crack formation in the process of subsequent hot pressure treatment.
