FIELD: ecology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to eco-toxicology, in particular to investigation of special characteristics of oxidative stress development in clams, and can be used to detect the effect of technogenic environmental pollution on the state of river and sea mussels populations. For this purpose samples of hepatopancreas of clams from contaminated water bodies are homogenized in the 10 times volume of 50 MW tris-buffer of pH 7.8 containing 2 MW ethylene diamine tetraacetate. Then analysis is performed for the content of malondialdehyde (MDA) and 4-hydroxy alkenes for determination of lipids peroxidation level. State of mussels is evaluated by results of determining the level of oxidative damage in lipids hepatopancreas compared to the reference samples taken from conditionally pure water bodies.

EFFECT: invention enables detection of intoxication at different stages of cells metabolic balance disorder induced by aquatic pollutants.
