FIELD: instrument making.

SUBSTANCE: aspirating face seal includes a primary seal, a secondary seal, and a biasing device. Primary seal includes a first seal component and a second seal component. First seal component is configured to be coupled to a rotor and rotate with rotor. Secondary seal includes flexible elements and is configured to be disposed between second seal component and a stator housing. Biasing device is coupled to second seal component such that second seal component is biased along an axial direction away from first seal component during a non-operating condition.

EFFECT: technical result of invention is improved dynamic characteristics and longer service life of secondary seal.
