ANIMAL MODEL EXPRESSING LUCIFERASE UNDER CONTROL OF THE MYELIN BASIC PROTEIN PROMOTER (MBP-LUCI) AND USE OF THE MODEL FOR BIOLUMINESCENCE IN VIVO IMAGING Russian patent published in 2016 - IPC A01K67/27

Abstract RU 2601128 C2

FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to non-invasive visualization model based on luciferase under control of the myelin basic protein promoter for visualization and quantitative determination of demyelination events and remyelination in the central nervous system on transcription level in vivo. Luciferase expressing transgenic animals were created with myelin basic protein promoter (MBP), attached to the reporter - glow light's luciferase. Biovisualization model, MBP-luci, provides the agent for the myelination status monitoring and efficiency of the tested compounds, modulating remyelination. Advantage of biovisualization is that an individual in the long-term research can serve as its own control. One of the individual can be monitored during the process of demyelination and remyelination continuously for at least 10-weeks period. In addition, it is possible to reduce the number of the animals, required for the research of the compounds efficiency, due to absence of necessity of killing the longitudinal animals in different time points.

EFFECT: this model provides a possibility of the visualization response normalizing of individual animals and ensures quality data with significantly reduced variability.
