Method of forming and separating a discrete portion from rolled material comprises providing rolled material. Rolled material is fed to shaping mechanism. Shaping mechanism comprises rotary cutting device with cutting die. Rolled material is cut to form discrete portion. Portion has a shape in which there is no linear edge oriented in transverse direction. After shaping discrete portion is separated from rolled material. Method of binding discrete portion of first rolled material with second rolled material comprises providing first and second rolled materials. Providing their movement at different speeds. First rolled material is fed to shaping mechanism and a discrete portion is formed. Discrete portion is transferred to applicator. Surface rotation speed of applicator is varied to match speed of second rolled material. Discrete portion is transferred from applicator to second rolled material.
