FIELD: instrument making.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to aerosol generating device configured to heat aerosol forming substrate and, in particular, system for providing a preferred air flow through the device. Aerosol generating system comprises an aerosol forming article which comprises an aerosol-forming substrate and mouthpiece portion for allowing a user to draw air through the substrate; and aerosol generating device comprising a housing, which has proximal and distal ends and contains at least one outer surface and one inner surface, wherein the inner surface forms an open ended cavity at the proximal end of the housing, accommodating aerosol-forming substrate, wherein the cavity has a longitudinal extent between its proximal and distal ends, heating element inside said cavity, made with possibility of heating aerosol forming substrate placed in the said cavity, and air inlet; wherein the system comprises the first channel for air flow, extending from the air inlet to the distal end of the cavity, wherein the first channel for air flow runs between the heating element and the outer surface of the housing along at least a part of the longitudinal extent of the cavity, and the second channel for air flow, which runs from the distal end of the cavity to mouthpiece portion, wherein the heating element is a pin or plate extending into the substrate, wherein the distal end of the first channel for air flow and the distal end of the second channel for air flow meet at the air outlet, located around the base of the heating element.
EFFECT: technical result is to provide an aerosol generating device, suitable for holding in hand with comfortable maximum temperature of the housing during use, as well as to provide aerosol generating device, which comprises a heater to heat aerosol forming substrate in which heat loss through the cover of the device is minimized.
