SUBSTANCE: heating unit for heating the aerosol-forming substrate, wherein the heating unit comprises: a heater comprising an electrical resistive heating element and a heater base; heater holder connected to heater; wherein the heating element comprises a first portion and a second portion configured such that when the electric current flows through the heating element, the first portion is heated to a higher temperature than the second portion as a result of electric current flow; heater holder surrounds second section of heating element.
EFFECT: disclosed is a heating unit for an aerosol generating system.
