FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to transmission of multimedia content using unified addresses for the content, for example, uniform resource identifier (URI). Proposed is a method of access to a content (y), in which there is at least one data segment (0.mp4v, 180180.mp4v), where access to the said data segment is performed through a document describing the content (.ympd). Method includes the first stage (E1, E11) of receiving the document describing the content (y.mpd), from which a document is generated (E2) by at least the first unified address of a segment (HTTP://x.com/video/0.mp4v); the second stage of receiving at least one parameter (s=abd) associated with the unified address (HTTP://x.com/video/y.mpd?s=abd) of the document describing the content (y.mpd); the stage of reading at least one address generation rule (URLParameterTemplate) in the document describing the content (y.mpd); and as a function of the address generation rule (URLParameterTemplate) the first unified address of the segment (://HTTPx.com/video/0.mp4v), and the parameter received in (s=abd), the last stage (E3) of generating the second unified addresses for the segment (HTTP://x.com/y1.mp4v?s=abd).

EFFECT: technical result is generation of a single descriptive document for the content (a manifest, a description file, et cetera) for all clients, herewith simultaneous personalizing the address of associated segments of the content with parameters, which simplifies the description document address.
