FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to techniques of context adaptive binary arithmetic coding (CABAC), which is used for video encoding. Disclosed is method of encoding video data. Method includes a step on which the choice is made of context of one or more contexts based on conversion unit depth of conversion, associated with a unit of encoded video data wherein the depth of conversion sets the current level of coding unit subdivision into units for converting coding. Further, according to the method, encoding of flag of encoded chrominance Cb is made for mentioned block of video data using context adaptive binary arithmetic coding (CABAC) and the selected context wherein encoding of flag of the colour coded unit flag encoding Cb includes using a set of contexts, including mentioned one or more contexts.

EFFECT: technical result is eliminating of memory redundancy due to reduction of contexts used in CABAC.
