DEVICE FOR DETECTING MONODIRECTIONAL NEUTRON RADIATION IN PRESENCE OF ASSOCIATED GAMMA-BACKGROUND Russian patent published in 2016 - IPC G01T3/06

Abstract RU 2585964 C1

FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radiation measurements and can be used for detecting neutron radiation mono directional flow density at nuclear-physical units of different types and purposes. Device for detecting neutron radiation mono directional with associated gamma-background, comprises two scintillation crystals made from hydrogen-containing material with thickness equal to length of path of most high-energy recoil protons located in housing in direction of irradiation, separated by layer of metal with thickness smaller recoil protons run value, and two photoelectronic multipliers connected optically to scintillation crystals and connected via a subtraction circuit to electromeasuring device, and crystals dividing their layers of metal, photomultipliers photo cathodes and housing are made from materials with close effective atomic numbers, wherein contains third scintillation crystal, which is made from material which does not contain hydrogen, is located behind second chip has equal to it thickness and is separated from it with metal layer with thickness equal to length of path of most high-energy recoil protons, and photo multipliers have optical connection to second and third scintillation crystals.

EFFECT: technical result is increased sensitivity of device for detecting mono directional neutron radiation in presence of associated gamma-background.
