FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to aircraft engines and can be used in monitoring state of said motors over time. Method for inspecting impacts present on an internal face of a fan casing includes following steps: spotting first impact (I1) present on internal face of fan casing, delimiting an inspection area containing said first impact (I1), spotting various impacts (Ii) present in delimited inspection area, said various spotted impacts forming a set of impacts to be considered, measuring, for each impact (Ii) that is to be considered, depth of length of said impact (Ii), for each impact (Ii) to be considered, determining a harmfulness value, using at least one chart relating depth and length of each impact to be considered to a level of harmfulness determining, for inspection area containing first impact (I1), a total harmfulness value by adding together harmfulness level determined for each impact (Ii) to be considered.

EFFECT: invention provides simple assessment of degree of severity of observed damages to accelerate processing said defects due to using simple inspection tools, which do not require special training, and enables to quickly decide on permissibility or impermissibility of said defects relative to strength of fan casing.
