FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, in particular to a method of manufacturing a high-temperature tantalum carbide heater for high-temperature vacuum resistance furnaces. Cementation of parts from tantalum is carried out in graphite powder or in vacuum in acetylene medium at pressure of 2–10 mm Hg at temperature of 1800–2200 °C for 1–3 hours with the formation of a layer of tantalum carbide on the part surface. Mentioned cementation is carried out from 1 to 10 times depending on the thickness of the part and the cementation temperature, and after each cementation, vacuum homogenizing annealing without graphite powder or without introducing acetylene at the above mentioned temperature for 3–5 hours at residual pressure of 0.01–0.1 mm Hg is carried out.
EFFECT: simplified fabrication of high-temperature tantalum carbide heater.
