FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention may be used in internal combustion engines. Internal combustion engine includes at least one cylinder, valve train (2), oil circuit (1) and pump (3) to supply valve train (2) of motor with oil via supply line (4). Cylinder is made with at least two outlet openings to discharge gas and at least two inlet openings to supply combustion air, at least one of the openings is formed as shiftable opening. Valve train (2) includes a valve for each opening and valve actuating means to control the valves. Valve actuating means for valve control contains at least one camshaft with multiple cams and multiple cam follower members (6). Each cam follower member (6) is arranged in the power flow between a cam and a valve in such a manner that when camshaft rotates the valve makes oscillating stroke movements. Cam follower member (6) of at least one shiftable opening is hydraulically switchable cam follower member (6a) connected with oil circuit (1). Pump (3) is a pump with variable volume of supply that allows adjustment of oil pressure in supply line (4) downstream pump (3). Hydraulically switchable cam follower member (6a), which at camshaft rotation causes oscillating stroke movement of the corresponding valve, switches to disconnected when the specified value of oil pressure is exceeded. Disconnected cam follower member (6a) prevents oscillating stroke movement of the corresponding valve at camshaft rotation. Disclosed is a method to operate an engine.
EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of durability of follower member.
