FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a process variable converter. Converter (12) is configured as a flow meter for measuring flow rate of the process fluid flowing through pipeline (18). Converter (12) includes Pitot tube (22) passing in pipeline (18), which creates a differential pressure in the process fluid due to the process fluid flow rate. Sensor (60L) of the process variable upstream is installed on Pitot tube (22) and is connected with the process fluid flow for recording the process variable of the process fluid upstream. Sensor (60T) of the process variable downstream is installed on Pitot tube (22) downstream of sensor (60L) of the process variable upstream and is connected with the flow rate of the process fluid for recording the process variable of the process fluid downstream. Measuring electronic circuit (34) determines the process fluid flow rate basing on the process variables upstream and downstream, as well as provides a diagnostic output data based on values of pressure upstream and downstream the process fluid flow measured by the pressure sensors located upstream and downstream.

EFFECT: providing more reliable and accurate measurement of flow rate.
