FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: method is intended to locate evolvents of a billet subjected to preliminary gear cutting and includes the following stages: generating the first relative displacement between the billet and the tool, detecting the resulting first contact between the first side surface of the tool tooth and the first side surface of the billet tooth and detecting the first set of coordinates for representation of relative displacement of the billet and the tool; generating the second relative displacement between the billet and the tool, detecting the resulting second contact between the second side surface of the tool tooth and the second side surface of the billet tooth and detecting the second set of coordinates for representation of relative displacement of the billet and the tool; determining angles of rotation, feeds, an axial distance and an angle of crossing axes of the tool and the billet basing on the first and the second sets of coordinates and subsequent calculating the location of evolvents basing on the angles of rotation, the feeds, the axial distance and the angle of crossing axes.
EFFECT: proposed is a method for determining location of evolvents in gear wheels.
