SUBSTANCE: invention relates to display device excitation device and display device excitation method, and, in particular, to excitation of three-dimensional images displaying devices. Excitation device of display device (101), having background illumination (105) and transmission panel (107), containing transmission elements for modulation of light from background illumination (105), comprises receiver (109), display device controller (115), compensator (117), background illumination exciter (111), transmission panel exciter (113). Receiver receives plurality of successive in time frames. Controller generates background illumination intensity values and transmission excitation values in response to image data and global relationship between image data values and background illumination intensity values and transmission excitation values. Compensator enters locally adapted over excitation compensation value into transmission excitation value and defines locally adapted compensation over excitation value in response to transmission element displaying position.

EFFECT: technical result is increasing image quality due to reduction of cross distortion.
