FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to energy converters of radiation into electrical energy and can also be used in explosive premises – mines, unmanned aircraft, night indicators and sensors located in hard-to-reach places, etc. High-voltage converter of ionizing radiation comprises vertical slots in semiconductor plate of n(p) type of conductivity, on surface of which vertical p-n transitions are located and filled with electrically conductive material of radioactive isotope, wherein converter has additional insulating substrate, on which there is semiconductor plate of n(p) type of conductivity, in which there are deep slots in form of grid, perpendicular to plate surface, wherein their depth reaches surface of dielectric substrate to form semiconductor columns of n-(p-) type of conductivity, lower surface of which adjoins insulating substrate, side surfaces adjoin slots, on side surfaces of columns p+(n+) regions are located forming lateral p-n transitions, on surface of slots thin dielectric is located insulating semiconductor columns aside from each other, inside volume of slots radioactive isotope is located, on upper surface of columns dielectric and contact areas of p+(n+) type to p-n transitions and contact areas n+(p+) to columns of n-(p-) type of conductivity are located, wherein contact areas of adjacent columns are connected in series to each other with metal conductors. Method of producing high-voltage converter of ionizing radiations is also disclosed.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain practically unlimited value of output voltage and maximum electric power per unit volume and weight of converter.
