FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of energy converters of ionizing radiations of isotope sources into electrical energy. Such sources differ from capacitors and batteries by much higher energy per unit volume, but with a small output per unit time. It is able to provide direct charging of a powerful battery or capacitor in the absence of solar radiation with a minimum weight and size, wherein the lifetime of the isotopic converter is determined by the half-life of the radiation material, which for 63Ni over 100 years. In the method, the technical result is achieved due to the original design of the beta radiation converter and the technology of its manufacture, in which the largest emitting surface of an isotope is realized with a minimum area of a high-quality planar horizontal p-n junction. This makes it possible to minimize the dark current and, thus, to increase the idling voltage and the specific power of the converter.
EFFECT: invention provides an increase in the specific output power of the converter, simplifying and reducing the cost of technology for its manufacture.
