SUBSTANCE: cutting tool assembly (10) comprises a cutting tool (12) and an indexable cutting plate (14) having an axis of rotation. The cutting plate (14) comprises the first and the second parallel side plates connected by a peripheral surface which extends around the cutting plate (14). At least one clamping hole is opened to one or both of the first and the second sides of the plate, and at least a section of the clamping hole is clamped in the cutting plate (14). The peripheral surface of the wafer comprises cutting edges that are placed apart and extend from the first side (22A) of the plate to the second side of the plate. Along the width direction which is perpendicular to the first and the second sides of the plate, each of the cutting edges of the cutting plate is wider (14) at least in the area of the cutting plate (14).
EFFECT: invention provides an improved design of the cutting plate and the cutting tool.
