FIELD: tools.
SUBSTANCE: cutting insert has an insert aperture opening out to insert top and bottom surfaces. In a plan view of insert top surface, cutting insert and insert aperture both have oblong shapes which are elongated along a common insert longitudinal axis. Aperture includes first and second side surfaces along insert longitudinal axis, aperture first and second end surfaces which each extend transverse relative to insert longitudinal axis.
EFFECT: at least one of aperture first and second end surfaces is formed with a clamping lip.
