FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to the field of metal cation removal from water. Humic substances are claimed, which are isolated from black alder valley peat and have molecular weight 98 kDa, total acidity 3.2 mmol/g, carboxyl group content 0.3 mmol/g, phenol group content 2.9 mmol/g. Humic substances are obtained by alkaline extraction from black alder valley peat with addition of sodium sulfate as a salting-out agent. The precipitated fraction is separated from humic substance solution by centrifugation for 30 min at 10000 r.p.m. The low molecular fraction of humic substances is isolated.
EFFECT: obtained fraction of humic substances forms insoluble complex compounds with Pb(II) and Zn(II) cations and is used for their effective removal from solutions.
