FIELD: instrument making.

SUBSTANCE: sound source position assessment determination device comprises two microphones (M1, M2) and acoustic element (203) providing acoustic effect for sound from sound source positions for first microphone (M1). Acoustic effect is asymmetric relative to axis (201) between microphones (M1, M2). Position circuit (305) performs assessment of two possible positions from different sides from sound source axis in response to time of arrival into microphones (M1, M2). Assessment unit (307) defines acoustic effect value, which denotes degree, with which first microphone signal acoustic effect corresponds to acoustic effect expected characteristic for sound sources from axis (201) one side. Other circuit (309) determines position assessment by selecting between two possible positions in response to acoustic effect value.

EFFECT: such approach can eliminate errors during position determination associated with determination of position, based on time of arrival in two microphones.
