FIELD: physics, acoustics.
SUBSTANCE: single-channel hydroacoustic antenna with an axially symmetrical beam pattern relates to hydroacoustic engineering and can be used as a transceiving antenna of an echo sounder. The technical result is achieved via amplitude distribution on the surface of a common circular plate, which decreases towards its edges, which lowers the level of side lobes of the beam pattern. Such amplitude distribution is achieved by placing in the central part of the common circular plate a half-wave polymer layer, which is acoustically transparent, an a metal ring is adhesively placed on its edges on the polymer layer, wherein said metal ring is thick on the periphery and, together with the polymer layer, provides a damping effect on vibrations of the peripheral part of the plate.
EFFECT: invention enables to reduce the level of first additional maxima of the beam pattern of the disclosed antenna.
