FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to organic chemistry, namely, to a method for production of 3-methacryloxy sulfolane which is an anti-inflammatory agent. This method includes interaction of 3-oxysulfolane preliminarily obtained by hydration of sulfalene-3 with methacrylic acid chloranhydride, with 3-oxysulfolane being produced at a temperature of 44-48°C and holding for 2.5-3.5 hours, methacrylic acid chloranhydride is added during 40-60 minutes, the formed suspension is dissolved in mixture of polar halogen derivative of aprotonic solvent and water, then the organic layer is distilled to obtain 3-methacryloxy sulfolane which is crystallized from water or diethyl ester.

EFFECT: invention allows to develop a method which is more practically feasible and safe when used in the industrial scale due to generation of conditions allowing simultaneously to enhance target product purity, significantly reduce process duration and exclude the use of aggressive reagents at the stage of production of 3-oxysulfolane and at the stage of its interaction with methacrylic acid chloranhydride with preserved output at the prototype level.
