FIELD: organic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: method involves an interaction of 3-hydroxysulfolane with methacrylic acid chloroanhydride at temperature from -5 C to 10 C for 3-4 h. 3-hydroxysulfolane is used that is obtained preliminary by sulfolene-3 hydration without its isolation from reaction mass at hydration process. Process is carried out by stages addition of methacrylic acid chloroanhydride to sulfolane-containing reaction mass at simultaneous neutralization of hydrogen chloride evolving by stages addition of alkali to reaction mass. Purity of the end product is 98%, not less, being without distillation and recrystallization. 3-methacrylohydroxysulfolane is used in medicine as a glue component showing antiinflammatory property.
