FIELD: hygiene.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to antimicrobial micro-aggregates, methods of their production and use, as well as oral care compositions containing such micro-aggregates. Proposed antimicrobial micro-aggregate includes a zinc oxide particle stabilised with a nonionic surfactant and coated with polymer, where polymer is a hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, wherein average size of micro-aggregate ranges from 5 to 50 micron in main dimension. To obtain a plurality of said micro-aggregates, method includes mixing a coating polymer, which is a hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, zinc oxide and surfactant in a suitable solvent or carrier, spray drying mixture and separating obtained micro-aggregates, having average size of micro-aggregate from 5 to 50 micron in main dimension. Also disclosed is an oral care composition containing such micro-aggregates, method of inhibiting accumulation of dental plaque and/or calculus, involving contacting oral surface with said composition.
EFFECT: use of group of inventions provides higher antimicrobial action, efficient for slowing down accumulation of dental plaque and/or calculus.
