FIELD: terminal control equipment.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to equipment for controlling a terminal, more specifically to controlling a terminal, particularly a portable audio device, by means of a headset wire. Presented are a method and a device to control a terminal and a terminal device for implementing the method to control a terminal using a headset wire, which has a specific area made of a capacitive material and is connected to the terminal. Method involves: detection of current in the specific area of the headset wire, user gesture recognition basing on the current; receiving a control instruction corresponding to the user gesture; and implementation of the control instruction. Herewith the specific area of the headset wire comprises a preset first point of detection and the second point of detection, distance between the first point of detection and the second point of detection exceeds a preset threshold value. User gesture is detected basing on a current change signal in the first and the second points of detection. Control instruction is formed corresponding to the user gesture and implementing control over the terminal. For the whole procedure the user must only touch the specific area of the headset wire without using the pushbutton in order to generate a current signal.

EFFECT: technical result is providing more comfortable and fast control over a terminal using a headset wire, higher efficiency of the headset wire and increased service life of the headset wire.
